There are times throughout our lives we feel that we need a change. However, discerning when and how are not so easy. We know that unless we take the right risks we may never maximize our potential, then the flip side is that sometimes the grass is not always greener on the other side. This can cause a huge internal tug of war. How do we discern when it's the right time to make a change?
First and foremost, know that the Lord is your Shepherd, and He will lead you. There are phases of your life and ministry that God wants you to accomplish, and through each phase He wants you excercise your faith and grow to the next level. God expands you on the inside and then it manifests in the natural. It's important to let God prepare you on the inside first so you are ready to handle what's ahead of you. How many of us have gotten overly ambitious about something and prematurely got what we "thought" we wanted, only to realize that we went ahead of God's timing and found ourselves in a worse situation? I'm sure we've all been there.
However, when the Lord prepares us, he battle tests us. He allows situations into our lives that help us grow and mature so we are ready to tackle the next thing He has for us. He also prepares the way for us and meticulously carves out the perfect timing for everything ahead, so when it's time - IT'S TIME! And you will know it by the inward witness that the Holy Spirit gives you that you are ready for your new season, and you find out firsthand what the scripture means when God says..."I will go before you and level the mountains; I will break down gates of bronze and cut through bars of iron. I will give you the treasures of darkness, riches stored in secret places, so that you may know that I am the Lord, the God of Israel, Who summons you by name". (Isaiah 40:2-3 NIV).
This Scripture in Isaiah is absolutely amazing. It shows what God will do to help you get to your new season. He will literally break down gates of bronze and cut through bars of iron to help you get there. Then he will share with you the treasures of darkness - the multitude of rich blessings He has hidden for those who are faithful to Him.
So be faithful in the season you find yourself in, but use your faith and believe God to prepare you and usher you into the tomorrow He has for you. He will give you a "green light" in your spirit when the time is right for the new thing He has for you, and you will "know that you know" when it's time to move forward. He loves you and He will truly make it happen!
