Father's Day Church Song - Father Forever

To all my fellow worship leaders out there. Father's Day is coming is I know sometimes it's tough to find songs that fit a particular day. Looking for a Father's Day song for your church congregation? You may want to consider the song Father Forever. It's the 7th song on my latest album, God of the Impossible. You can hear a free sample of the song here and get the free lead sheet & chords under the Lead Sheet section. It's a song God burned in my heart about His marvelous love for us and how we will worship Him as our Father God forever. Here's some thoughts on the song from my About the Songs link...

God the Father wants us to know Him as "Abba Father" (read Romans 8:15) which in today's terms would be like saying "Daddy". This is an amazing term of intimacy and shows how much God loves you as a daddy. Many of us have been hurt by poor role models in today's world, and unfortunately even in the church. So many people are turned off by church because of a bad earlier experience, and their image of God is tainted by those experiences. However, people are imperfect-but God is perfect. As we press in and ask God to reveal Himself to us as "Daddy" I believe He will answer that prayer in a powerful way, heal wounds that go very deep, and help us experience Him as a true Father and friend closer that you can ever imagine. As Christians we will have the pleasure of worshipping and serving the Father God forever, the God Who did not spare His only son, Jesus Christ so that through faith in Him we can live eternally in heaven. He is truly - our Father Forever.

I pray it's a blessing to you and your congregation!

The Transition Zone

6/8/2011

I read a devotional from Dick Mills recently that talked about transition, that many of us find ourselves in a place where God has closed a door behind us, but the door in front of us is not open yet. This is the transition zone. We need to see and believe that the God who closed the door behind us will be faithful to open the door in front of us. The Bible says "...These are the words of Him Who is holy and true, Who holds the key of David. What He opens no one can shut, and what He shuts no one can open" Revelation 3:7b NIV. What a powerful scripture! Sometimes it's so easy to think that people control so much of what happens in our life, whether it be someone in authority, a manager, or whoever. But for the believing Christian Jesus is directing the affairs of your life, not people. Sure we will run into situations where we have trials with people, but God will give you wisdom on how to handle them. You see, when Jesus closes a door - IT'S CLOSED...and when He opens a door - IT'S OPEN. When we've committed our way to Him there's nothing anybody can do to stop His work and blessing in your life. Jesus will lead  you to streams of living water, to increase, and to life more abundantly (John 10:10)!

God cares about every detail of our life. When we wholeheartedly commit our way to the Lord and do our best to follow the Holy Spirit's leading, God will lead you in all the areas of your life. What's important to you is important to Him, and He watches over things that we would never even dream of. Jesus also says..."Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. So don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows" Matthew 10:29-30 NIV. There is something here that is extremely powerful. Jesus is saying that even birds do not drop to the ground without God's consent and you are worth way more. So God will take care of you and direct our way so meticulously and so precisely. All we need to do is pray, commit our way to Him, take time to listen and watch God go to work on your behalf.

If you are in that transition zone or when you find yourself in one, trust that the God that brought you out will bring you into your new season in an amazing way. He is faithful, and He will be faithful to you!
